Weekend/Father's Day Recap

Hello Lovelies!

We had quite the busy weekend! AND you get to hear all about it! :) Aren't you excited?! You should be! haha

The weekend started off for me on Friday. Having friday's off of work is ah-mazing! It just so happens that my doctor's appointments usually fall on fridays so that makes me look forward to them all the more!

Baby girl is measuring right on schedule! I was also very excited to find out that I'm 1cm dialated and 75% effaced! Woot woot! I can't wait to meet her!

For Father's day we went to church for an amazing service! What a great day to spend time in the presence of our Heavenly Daddy!
After church we went to my sister, Melanie's house for fried chicken and loaded baked potatoes! I even made a stawberry jello poke cake for desert. It was delish! If you've never made one-you should! They are so easy to make!

I also got my haircut!! It was much needed and it will be much easier to take care of once baby girl is born!

Hope you all had a great weekend as well! xoxo!

Hardest moments in the first year of marriage.

I'm linking up with a bunch of lovely ladies for the newlywed and beyond link-up. The first year of marriage was hard. Now don't get me wrong, it was so much more amazing than I could have ever dreamed but there were times where I was stretched.

"James 1:2-4 My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. 4 But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing."
This is the verse I love looking back on when thinking of that time because I know the things that Louis and I went through made us that much stronger as a couple. We also definitely had to learn to rely on God that much more.
So here are a few hard moments from our first year:
1.)Money- We had always been told before we got married that money was an issue that caused strife in so many different marriages. At the time I don't think I really believed them. Both of us were living with our parents before we got married so it was a BIG reality check when we were paying all of our bills by ourselves. On top of all of our normal bills we also both had accrued quite a bit of debt so we were putting all of the extra money we had left over into paying those debts off. This caused so much stress on our marriage because the only money we had left over after paying our bills off every month was enough to get a couple cheeseburgers from burger king. You better believe we did that too! ;) There were even times that the Lord provided for us when we thought we wouldn't even be able to buy groceries but we always ended up with more than enough! I'm so glad that my hubby stayed strict with the budget at that time, though because now we are almost completely debt free(except for our car).

2.)Buying a house- Last June we had started the process of buying a house. We found a house we loved about a week after we started looking. It was amazing! 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and had a HUGE backyard. We were absolutely in love. We were told we were pre-approved so we happily began the process of putting an offer on the house-which got accepted pretty quickly! Everything was falling into place. The inspection was finished(and paid for) and we were about a month away from the closing date. That July we had decided to go on vacation to Colorado, which was amazing by the way! It was basically the honeymoon we never got to have. On our way back home my husband got a call from our lender basically saying that we were no longer approved for the loan. She told us that that only way we would get this house is if we had a co-signer and about 6,000 dollars or so. We were devistated. We tried everything we could for the next month to get that house-even going to different lenders to try to get approved. Nothing seemed to work. Finally after pushing back our closing date another month I finally told Louis I was done. I didn't want to keep getting my hopes up and discouraged. That night Louis called our real estate agent and told her that we didn't want to continue with the process any more. We were both crushed. At the end of it all we just had to trust that God knew what He was doing-and that He had something even better planned for us. About a month later we found a very nice house to rent and have been there ever since. No, it's not our dream house but we are confident that God is going to help us get an even better house someday.

3.)Trying for a baby- This was the hardest thing I think we had to go through as newlyweds. We had been trying for a baby since the day we got married and every month that it didn't happen I became more and more upset. It took a year of heartbreak before I finally got that positive pregnancy test. Seeing that positive after waiting that long was so amazing! God definitely answered our prayers! You can read more about that here.

So that was just a few things that happened in our first year of marriage. It was hard, but so so worth it. There hasn't been a day that has gone by that I haven't been so thankful for the amazing man that God brought into my life. Being married is so amazing-I'm so thankful I get to spend everyday with my best friend!

Dear Sweet Pea.

Dear Baby girl, I love you oh so much! It's so amazing to think that we get to meet you in less than 6 weeks! Time has flown by! It seems like just yesterday I was staring at the pregnancy test that would change my life forever-seeing that one word I had waited so long to see. Pregnant. I hope someday you will know just how much your daddy and I wanted you and prayed for you. I keep thinking about the day when you will enter into the world. I'm so excited to just hold you in my arms and take in your sweet smell! I'm excited to see if you look more like me or your daddy. I hope you'll be a good combination of us both! I especially hope you have your daddy's hair! :) I know there will be times I will miss the days of you being in my womb, so I'm trying to enjoy them. I know I will miss feeling your sweet hiccups and having a special bond with you that no one else has. I love feeling every roll, kick, punch, and whatever else you've been doing in there! It's so much fun for me! There have been times I've complained about heartburn, backpain, and weight gain. But you know what? YOU are worth it! There hasn't been a day that has gone by where I haven't been so thankful for this gift I've been given! You are a gift from God little girl. Don't ever forget that! I love you always, Mommy.

Mommy Five{Link-Up}#2

Hi All! Are you ready for the mommy five link-up this lovely morning? I know I am! :)
Today's topic is five baby names you love! I decided on this topic because I've always loved looking up baby names and meanings! I think I've had an ongoing list since I was 16! haha! Once I got pregnant I started doing even more searching through databases to find a name that both hubby and I could agree on! I can't wait to let you all in on what baby girl's name will be. You'll have to wait about 6 more weeks to find out! :)
On to my list!
1.)Gavin-I've loved this name since highschool. I'm not sure why, I think I just like the way it sounds. Louis doesn't like it at all though...womp.womp. wommmmp. I've given up on ever using it.
2.)Scarlett-Beatiful name. I don't think I can ever use it though because our last name is a color as well.
3.)Asher-This is our boy name! We were definitely decided on this name before we found out that baby girl was a she! Asher means blessed and happy-how awesome is that?!
4.)Harper-I was seriously considering using this for baby girl but it has gotten way too popular recently! Who knows though-we may still use it in the future!
5.)Audrey-Another name I've loved since high school. Hubby doesn't like it one bit! He thinks it sounds like an old lady name!(No offence to anyone with that name!) I think it's beautiful though.
